Our 12-month, comprehensive, transition-to-practice program facilitates your progress from student to professional nurse through education, mentorship and peer support.
Our Nurse Residency program prepares new graduate nurses by teaching the knowledge, skills and behaviors that are necessary to continuously improve quality and safety at the point of care. It combines precepted orientation, led by dedicated preceptors, with blended learning experiences. Nurse residents will:
● Develop the clinical judgment needed to rapidly recognize a change in a patient’s condition and the urgency of a clinical situation
● Cultivate excellent communication skills, allowing them to engage with colleagues and support patients
● Enjoy cohort experiences designed to promote peer and professional socialization and strengthen their professional commitment to nursing
● Learn didactic content specifically tailored to new graduates from professional nursing organizations
After completion of department-based orientation, nurse residents continue with regularly scheduled workshops designed to address specific transitions through the first year of practice as a novice nurse.
Topics include:
● Cultural competency
● Ethical decision making
● Quality initiatives
● Delegation
● Evidence-based practice
● Resiliency
● Diversity
● Patient engagement
● Time management
We offer RN Residency opportunities in Acute Care, Critical Care, Emergency Department, Women’s Services, Surgical Services, and more.
RN Residency cohorts begin 3 times per year: Spring (Feb/March), Summer (July/August), and Fall (Oct/Nov). Openings for the RN Residency Program are posted approximately 5-6 months before the start dates.
In addition to accepting Georgia-licensed Nurses, we also proudly accept RNs with eNLC multistate designation. Thanks to the compact, we are expanding the mobility of our nursing practice and increasing access to care for patients.
Just as our team is so dedicated to making a positive difference in every life they touch, Piedmont is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our people – in part by providing a lucrative and comprehensive total rewards package, which we call PHC & Me.
